Le Brésil a commencé comme un gulag des camps ésclaves. Mais beaucoup les milliers se sont échappés ou se sont rebellés, créant leurs propres les communautés dans l'intérieur indompté du Brésil. Aujourd'hui ils luttent pour préserver un héritage riche soutenu de la résistance à l'oppression. QUILOMBO COUNTRY examine ces communautés aujourd'hui, et inclut la culture matérielle, les discussions politiques, et la longueur rare des festivals et des rituels, y compris Umbanda, Paje, Tambor de Crioula, Carimbo et Boi Bumba. Brazil began as a gulag of slave camps. But many thousands escaped or rebelled, creating their own communities in Brazil's untamed hinterland. Today they struggle to preserve a rich heritage born of resistance to oppression.
Quilombo Country examines these communities today, and includes material culture, political debates, and rare footage of festivals and rituals, including Umbanda, Paje, Tambor de Crioula, Carimbo and Boi Bumba. Narrated by hip hop legend Chuck D of Public Enemy.
